Welcome to The Drama Bird!

My name is Kirsten Lane, aka Birdy. I am a qualified Drama and English teacher of 27 years and an experienced director and performer. I offer bespoke online and face to face drama education sessions to students and teachers.

My degree is in Performance Arts with Religious Studies from Cheltenham and a PGCE in English & Drama from Bretton Hall. I have also trained with the RSC for a Teaching Shakespeare Certificate in Foundation and Intermediate levels.

I create drama teaching resources and work with the set text and practitioner of your choice. I have worked extensively with Shakespeare for Schools both as a director and a teacher. I contributed as a teacher to aid and deepen study to a ‘ClickView’ Macbeth resource used both in schools here and abroad .

I have led and lectured BTEC Performing Arts in FE Colleges, led Drama departments and taught GCSE Drama and English and A Level Theatre Studies in secondary schools. I have directed over 30 scripted student shows and numerous issue based devised pieces. My philosophy of education is to have fun when learning. As Brecht said, ‘If you don’t have fun, you don’t have a show’.

I can teach GCSE and A Level Drama online or face to face if local to me in the South West. I am trained in Teen Yoga delivering yoga, meditation and yoga nidra. I believe a healthy mind and body is key to teenagers wellbeing and happiness.

Please have a look around my site and get in touch if you would like a group workshop or 1:1 tutoring.
